Eldred I. Kukkonen
Eldred I. Kukkonen, 89, Keewatin, formerly of Pengilly, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN. She was born on November 12, 1922, to John and Agnes (Haugen) Mattson in Minneota, MN. A homemaker by trade, Eldred was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary of Pengilly. She was also a member of a local birthday club, and a 4-H leader when her children were active in 4-H. She enjoyed rock collecting, canning, crocheting, knitting, hunting and fishing, and lately going to the casinos and playing the nickel and penny slots.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Peggy) Kukkonen, Keewatin, MN; two daughters, Elaine (Herbert) Latvala, Nashwauk, MN, Carolyn (Bernie) Sydow, Hibbing, MN; two half brothers, John and Henry Mattson; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Leslie Kukkonen.
Per Eldred’s request there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
