Emil F. Shubat
Emil F. Shubat, 91, Keewatin, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. He was born on June 21, 1923, to Frank and Evana (Krzich) Shubat in Bennett Location near Keewatin. He attended Keewatin schools and worked as a carpenter at Pickands Mather. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and participated in campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was a member of VFW Post 5516 of Keewatin and American Legion Post 452 of Keewatin.
He is survived by his sister, Blanche Laurich, Keewatin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Zora Polverari, Polverari, Marvin Shubat, Walter Shubat, and Elizabeth Smokrovich.
Funeral services for Emil will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Deacon Richard Johnston will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
