Eric was an avid writer and reader. He received several recognitions for his writing including selection and participation in the New York University Creative Writing Program. Eric graduated from BlueSky High School and attended Hamline University. He enjoyed his work at the Fresh Grounds Coffee Shop in St. Paul, MN. He also worked for several years with special needs children and adults. He cherished an opportunity to help others. He was a history and movie buff and enjoyed conversing about movies and politics. His quick wit and engaging smile helped him win many a discussion. Eric enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He helped produce many rollerblade videos with his friends. He loved his pets Misty, Noah, and Bear. They would seldom leave his side.
Eric is survived by his parents, Daniel and Sandra Courneya, Side Lake MN; his brother, Jeffrey , of Side Lake MN; maternal grandparents, Mike and Peggy Richtarich, of Britt, MN; paternal grandmother, Edna Courneya, of Oklawaha FL; aunt, Sue(David) Golfis of Waterford MI; uncle, Tony(Kelly) Richtarich, of Savage, MN; aunt, Terry(Terry) Taylor, of Silver Springs, Florida; uncle, John(Linda) Courneya of St Louis Park, MN, uncle, Robert Courneya, of Rice, MN; uncle, Richard Courneya, of Silver Springs, FL; uncle ,Pat(Michele) Courneya, of San Francisco, CA, uncle, Mark Courneya, of Waconia, MN, aunt, Mary(Mark) Martinez, of Tuscon, AZ; and over 20 cousins.
Eric was preceded in his death by his paternal grandfather, Clifford Courneya.
