Ervin N. Schraut, 89, Hibbing died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Heritage Manor in Chisholm.  He was born on June 6, 1924 to John and Agnes (Otremba) Schraut in Pierz, MN.  Ervin proudly served his country during WWII in the US. Army.  After the war,  Ervin was employed at the Island Farm Creamery for 24 years.  After the Creamery closed he worked for the Hibbing Public Utilities for 10 years.  Ervin was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing, he was a also a member of the American Legion Post 222 of Hibbing, and a former member of the Order of the Moose.  Ervin enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, his vegetable gardens, and he especially loved cutting firewood.
He is survived by his wife, Therese Schraut, Hibbing, his five children, Gail (Claude) Carter, Hibbing, Patricia (Jim) Miller, Minneapolis, MN., Dr. Gary Schraut, Lafayette, IN., Linda (Alvin) Langhorst, Moose Lake, MN., and Gregory (Sheryl) Schraut, Champlin, MN., his sisters, Lavina Pekareck, Morrel, MN., and his twin sister, Doreen Ferkus, Eagle Bend, MN., eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes (Otremba) Schraut, four brothers, Joseph, John, Alfred, and Ronnie, and three sisters, Margaret, Clara, and Florence.
Funeral services for Ervin will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Pallbeaers are his grandchildren.  Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
