Esther Mary (Mae) Cerar

Esther Mary (Mae) Cerar, 96, of Plymouth, MN, formerly of Hibbing, died on Saturday June 10, 2017.  She was born March 22, 1921 in Mountain Iron, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Magajna.  Mae was married to Frank Cerar on February 15, 1941 and remained married until his death on April 15, 1993.  Mae loved being with her family and friends.  Cooking was her passion, and she provided many dinner parties.  She also enjoyed playing the game of bridge.

Mae is survived by her daughter Betty (Tom) Philipich of Plymouth, MN, a brother William (Dorothy) Magajna of Hibbing, a sister Marjorie (Quinto) Bocchi of Bloomington, MN, sisters-in-law: Alberta Lah of Grand Rapids and Dorothy Wolowicki of Cleveland, OH.,  five grandchildren: Jeffrey (Pam) Cerar, Brian Cerar, Joe (Jodi) Cerar, Jane (Ted) Peterson and Mary (William) VanMeter, and seven great grandchildren.

Mae was preceded in death by both of her parents, her son Ronald (Marilyn) Cerar and a sister-in-law Dolores (Stanley) Cerar.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Nick Nelson will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.  Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.  Funeral Services are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to an Alzheimer’s charity.
