Evelyn M. Erickson
Evelyn M. Erickson, 87, Hibbing, died peacefully in her home, Sat., Dec. 29, 2012 surrounded by her family.  She was born June 17, 1925 in Buhl, MN, the daughter of Mark and Myrtle Gosha.  She grew up in Hibbing, graduating from Hibbing High School in 1943.  She had attended Hibbing Junior College before marrying A.R. “Bob” Erickson on March 16, 1946. During their 58 year marriage, they spent most of their free time doing things together.   They made their home in Hibbing where Evelyn worked as a secretary for Pickands Mather Mining, American Linen and the Adams Clinic.  It was after the birth of their first son that she decided to dedicate her life to her home and family.  She and her husband enjoyed the winters they would spend at Sun City West in Az.   She loved to play golf and bridge and was always the life of the party.  She was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Mesaba Country Club, the Silver Sneakers, The Eagles Lodge and was active in the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sons Scott Erickson of Austin, TX and Jim (Shari) Erickson of Hibbing, her 4 grandchildren Kyle Erickson, Garrett Erickson and Reed Erickson all of Hibbing and Kelle Erickson of Mpls, MN, her sister in law Barbara Hanson of Green Valley, AZ,  two nieces Traci (Glenn) Bergum of St. Anthony, MN, and Andrea (Vern) Ekness of Celina, TX,  She will also be remembered by her special friend Dr. Richard Moyer and her close friend Marilyn Sikich.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday, Jan. 4, 2012 in the First Presbyterian Church, Hibbing.  The Rev. Jim Deters will officiate.  Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
