Evelyn Beatrice Walters
October 11, 1917 — January 4, 2015

Evelyn Beatrice Walters, 97, answered the call from her Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 4, 2015, in Worland, Wyo., at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth.
Evelyn was born Oct. 11, 1917, to Swedish immigrants Lars Lewis Lyckholm and Signe Johansson Lyckholm. She was a life-long resident of Side Lake, growing up and raising her own family on the property her father had built their home on. She remembered many good times of her childhood swimming across Side Lake, childhood friends at the old school, skating, skiing and sledding in tubs across the lake when it was frozen, running on the wheel of the paddle boat at Doan’s Lodge, community picnics and all of the old pioneers of the area.
On April 10, 1934, she married Rolland Walters in the Lyckholm home and they raised 10 children. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking, traveling, bocce ball and watching her family grow. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church at Side Lake and then in Chisholm. She traveled all over the United States with friends and visiting family and also to Sweden to see where her parents were born and raised and throughout Europe. She enjoyed going to the casino with friends and family.
She will be greatly missed but she expressed willingness to be called home and be with her loved ones who had gone on before her. Like Billy Graham, she looked forward to the next venture God had in store.
She is survived by sons, Melvin of Balkan and Dennis (Sandy) of Side Lake; daughters: Elizabeth of Wyoming, Evelyn Zbacnik of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Shirley (Rob) Huntsperger of Hibbing; 37 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Verda Dibble of Coarsgold, Calif., and Nancy (Willard) Duerr of Otsego, Minn.; sister-in-law, Ruth Woitel Soular; special former in-laws, Gene Wilenius and Bernice Serrano; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolland Walters; sons: Rolland Jr., Darell, Charles, Leslie and Lewis; brothers: Melvin, Ervin, Milton, Robert and Earl Lyckholm; sisters, Adeline Potami and Margaret Lautizi; and three grandchildren: Bradley and Lynette Walters, and Denise Wilenius.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev. Steve Breitbarth will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
