Fay E. Cameron
Fay E. Cameron, 86, Hibbing, died Monday, November 27, 2017 in the Guardian Angels Health Care Center, Hibbing, MN. He was born in Virginia, MN on January 27, 1931, the son of Roy and Louella (Benner) Cameron. Fay was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. After the war, in 1954, he married June Elaine Newberg. In 1960, they moved to Coleraine where he owned and operated a television and appliance repair business. In 1966, they moved to Hibbing, MN where he worked for Dostal Electric Co. as an appliance repair man. Then, in 1978, he took a position at the Hibbing Community College (Hibbing Vocational Technical Institute) as an HVAC instructor. He retired in 1993 after 15 years at the college.
Fay was very active in the Boy Scouts of America as a scout leader and in district office positions. He was awarded the Silver Scout and Silver Beaver medals during his tenure. Additionally, he was active in the Hope Association, an organization for the support those with intellectual disabilities, physical conditions and emotional issues, where he was the president in 1965. He loved playing the drums and was often seen playing for different bands in the area. He was described as a strong, warm, humble, caring and fun-loving man who loved his family and always helped others.
Fay is survived by his wife of 62 years, June; his children: Mary (James) Vaccari of Ottawa, IL; Richard (Paula) Cameron of Forest Lake, MN; Catherine Davison of Hibbing, MN and William (Celia) Cameron of Hibbing, MN; his 9 grandchildren: Patrick (Amelia) Cameron, Brian Cameron, Timothy Cameron, John Cameron, Adam (Kara) Vaccari, Reid Vaccari, Andrew Davison, Alexander Davison, Isabel Cameron; and his 3 great grandchildren: Robert Cameron, June Cameron, Nori Vaccari. All 9 grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hibbing, MN. Visitation will be in the church an hour before the service. Burial will be in the Forbes Cemetery, Forbes, MN.
