Florence L. Glasner
Florence L. Glasner, 95, of Galena, Illinois, longtime resident of Hibbing, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Elizabeth, Illinois. Florence was born January 29, 1922 to Charles and Alice (Salminen) Anderson in Hibbing, MN. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1939 with honors and worked as an electrician at the Oliver Mine. On October 15, 1943, Florence married Anthony Glasner at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Together they made Illinois their home, moving back to Hibbing in 1979 to enjoy retirement. Florence was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and she also volunteered at the Hibbing Tourist Center.
Florence is survived by her sons: William (Judi) Glasner of Galena, Ill., and James (Jaika) Glasner of Golden. Co., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony Glasner in 2009, both of her parents, and her sisters Elsie Bazzachini, Margaret Pifher, and Doris Grillo.
Funeral Services for Florence will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
