Frances A. “Sonie” Nobens

Frances A. “Sonie” Nobens, 87, Chisholm, former Hibbing resident died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Hillcrest Suites in Hibbing surrounded by her family.  She was born in Chisholm to John and Frances (Globokar) Ponikvar on December 31, 1929.  She loved gardening and being out of doors.  Frances was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm.

She is survived by her children, Kelly (Pat) Dryer, Eden Prairie, MN, Kerry (Jim Fena) Nobens, Hibbing, and John (Jeannie) Nobens, Hibbing, her twin sister, Mary Lou “Mitzi” (Larry) Meadows, Hibbing, 4 grandchildren, Bo, Jake, and Sophie Dryer, and Nick Nobens, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Nobens, and siblings, Veda Ponikvar, John (Shirley) Ponikvar, and Jenny (Charles) Whiteacre.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm with The Rev. Fr. Anthony Craig celebrating the Memorial Mass.  Visitation will be in Church for one hour before the Mass.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Memorials preferred to North Star Hospice.
