Frank A. Ciulini 92, of Estero, FL and a former lifelong resident of Hibbing, MN passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the American House Coconut Point Independent Living. Frank was born January 19, 1925 in Hibbing a son of the late Giacinto and Rose (Jerulle) Ciulini. He moved to Estero, FL a year ago to be closer to his family.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He saw action in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received during action. He was recently awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal.
After returning home he worked briefly as an accountant before his many years with the Hibbing Post Office. He was a longtime member of the Mesaba Country Club where he continued to golf until he was 91 and also a lifetime member of the VFW.
Survivors include his loving daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Mike Thibodo of Estero, FL; two grandchildren, Gia L. (Scott) Petz of Colorado Springs, CO and Ashley L. (Robert) Santos of Seattle, WA and four great grandchildren, Clara and Wyatt Petz and Connor and Max Santos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence Arbino Ciulini, the love of his life, who died October 30, 2011 and his brother, Anthony Ciulini who was killed in action in 1945.
Services for Mr. Ciulini will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Dougherty Funeral Home with visitation one hour before the service. . Burial with military honors accorded by Mid-Range Honor Guard will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, MN. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to, minneapolis.va.gov or the charity of your choice.
