G. MARIAN (JURICICH) TASTSIDES

G. Marian Tastsides, 92, resident of Duluth, died on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She was born on Dec. 16, 1924 in Hibbing, MN to Frank and Amelia (Luketich) Juricich, and was affectionately called “Chickie” by her family.

After graduation from Hibbing High School in 1942, Marian attended business school and worked at Hanna Mining. She married George Tastsides on July 7, 1948 and spent the next 17 years as a Naval Officer’s wife, moving to Duluth in 1965. In retirement, she spent the winters in Sun City, AZ. She enjoyed bingo, cards, watching movies, and attending plays.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, and siblings Mary Pucci, Katherine Juricich, Anne Barrett, Steve Juricich, Rosemary Buzzelli, Matilda Hansen, Julia Olin, Violet Perry, and Dorothy Andrews.

Marian is survived by her four children, Jane (Wayne) Schmidt, Georgetown, TX; Robert (Debra) Tastsides, Crystal Lake, IL; Patricia Bruha, Houston, TX; Nancy (Steve) Donnay, Aliso Viejo, CA; brother, James Juricich, Hibbing, MN; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

MEMORIAL MASS: 10am, Saturday, May 13, 2017, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Duluth. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at 2:30pm at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. In lieu of flowers, all memorials will be given to Portman Senior Center, 4601 McCulloch St, Duluth, MN 55804.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
