GAIL MARIE (PRINCE) JAVORINA
Gail Marie (Prince) Javorina passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 23, 2015. She was born in Hibbing, Mn on October 24, 1929, to Harold and Cecilia Prince. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1948, and married Stephen Javorina on June 16, 1951. They made their home in Hibbing and raised their three children there. They were married 11 wonderful years, until Steve passed away at a very young age. Many years after Steve’s premature death, Gail remarried to Chisholm native, Chief Justice Peter Popovich, and they lived 11 happy years on the St. Croix River, until Peter’s passing in 1996. Gail then moved back to her home town of Hibbing, and lived out her years happily spending time with family and friends, entertaining them at her beloved cabin on Perch Lake. Gail loved to entertain family and friends, and company was always warmly welcomed into her home.
Gail was a kind, generous, caring and loving woman, and a true lady in every sense of the word. She taught her family these values, and brought great joy to family and friends alike. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten: the proud Matriarch of our Javorina family.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Paul; parents; husbands; her youngest son, Stephen II; and sister, Donna. She is survived by her brothers Jerome (Orpha) Prince and John (Phyllis) Prince; daughter Michelle Javorina; son Paul (Luanne) Javorina; grandchildren: Michael Filander, Lynnae Javorina, Colleen Javorina, Logan Javorina and Thor Javorina; and great grandson Aubrey Lebeaux.
Visitation will be Thursday August 27, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral Mass. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com .
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of Gail’s caregivers that went above and beyond in her care and comfort. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Itasca Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 5093, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
