George T. Degnan
George T. Degnan, (Dugan), 58, Hibbing, passed on from this life’s journey to the next on July 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hibbing, MN on February 9, 1958 to George C. and Marion K. (Krasaway) Degnan. He graduated from Hibbing High School with the class of 1976. George worked for many years at Eveleth Taconite Company and retired from the City of Hibbing Sanitation Department.
Always a gentleman, George believed strongly in the importance of chivalry and his actions supported that belief. He was hard working and loyal. His family came first in all things. He worked tirelessly to make sure they were all taken care of.
George enjoyed the beauty of mornings watching and listening to the birds. An orange/pink sunset would stop him in his tracks. He dreamed of being an astronomer so the sun, the stars, moon, and planets fascinated him. Many a night was spent with our eyes aimed at the sky.
All who knew George knew he never took fashion cues from anyone. He had a lifelong love of elbow macaroni, Saturday morning donuts, working in the garden, and his ice cream sundaes were masterpieces, with sprinkles. He had a love/hate relationship with the “squirrel gang” in his backyard which would drive him to stalking the yard with his pellet gun, hunting them down like Elmer Fudd hunted Bugs Bunny. George was fun and funny. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Degnan and is survived by his mother, Marion K. Degnan, sisters, Barb (Pat) Garrity, and Sue (Tom) McLaughlin, his wife Sandra, daughter, Kelli (Branham Mihm) Degnan, son, Christopher (Elissa) Degnan, grandchildren, Ava Lee Johnson and Achaius Thomas Degnan, many nieces, nephews, inlaws, outlaws, and dear friends.
