George M. Gross, 81, Hibbing died Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Virginia Convalescent Center in Virginia. George was born on February 10, 1931 to Steve an Eva (Newman) Gross in Park Rapids, MN. He was employed with Mahoning Mine, and later Hibbing Taconite. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing and the Knights of Columbus in Hibbing. George’s interests were in traveling, he really enjoyed riding his bike, chatting with people and gardening.
He is survived by his sons Matt Gross, Hibbing, Kenneth (Ann) Gross, Stillwater, MN., daughter, Lisa Gross, San Bruno, CA., ex-wife, Sharon Williams, two step-children, Tim Johnson, and Mary Johnson both of Hibbing, sister-in-law, Joyce Gross, Tillimuc, OR., three grandchildren, Adrienne, Ellen, and Elizabeth Gross, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Eva (Newman) Gross, his 2nd wife, Joan (Melgeorge) Gross, six brothers, and his three sisters.
Funeral services for George will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Anthony Craig will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
