One of 11 children, George was born on October 20, 1918 to August and Mary (Deering) Piekarski in Little Falls, MN. When he was 18 years old, George traveled to Big Falls, MN where he worked for the CCC Camp. This is where he met and married Helen Marie Dougherty. They were united in the Sacrament of Marriage on September 22, 1941 and were happily married for 68 years until Helen’s passing in December of 2009. George was a man of strong faith, he was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin, the V.F.W. of Keewatin, and Hanna Retirement Club. His most noted pastime was fishing on the many area lakes with his wife Helen. The family would like to express a special thank you to Linda Mell and staff at Hillcrest Adams in Hibbing and Fairview Range Medical Center for the wonderful care their father received. He was truly a wonderful father who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. And in the words of George himself; “I want to wish each of you, all of God’s Blessings.”
