Geraldine “Gerry” Pierce

Geraldine “Gerry” Pierce, 82, Hibbing, passed away peacefully, Sept. 2, 2016 at her home in Hibbing with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 26, 1934 in Hibbing to Andrew Raymond and Lillian (Johnson) Tawyea.  She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  When she was a teen, she was an elevator operator at the Androy Hotel, then she went to work at the Garment Factory in Chisholm, MN, where she met the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Bernard.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 2014, parents, brothers Bobbie, Richard, Dale and James and her sister Jeanette.

She is survived by her son Alan (Paula) Pierce of Blaine, MN, daughters Denise Toldo and Tina (Gary) Bye both of Hibbing, sisters Myrna Rae (Mervin) Rice of Hibbing, Jane (Red) Turner of Eveleth and Judy (Chuck) Webb of Hibbing, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing.  Rev. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 and also Wednesday in the church from 11 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
