Gilbert Albert Krause
Gilbert A. Krause, 93, Hibbing, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born in Fond du Lac, WI on Nov. 23, 1920, to Albert and Marie Krause. Gilbert served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was united in marriage to Lillian Knoke on Feb. 10, 1945, in Wild Rose, WI. Gilbert and Lillian made their home in Hibbing, where he worked for ISD 701 as the school psychologist, remedial reading instructor, and as an elementary school teacher. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he had served as a past Sunday school superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Hibbing; two daughters, Linda Krause of Frisco, TX and Kristine (Lance) Dusing of Dell Rapids, SD; two sons, Dan (Bete) Krause of Bartlett, IL and Dr. Kevin (Tamara) Krause of Hibbing; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wallace Krause of Fond du Lac, WI; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Major David Krause, USMC, and an infant son, Mark Krause; his parents; two brothers, Arman Krause and Norman Krause; and by a sister, Esther Rueping.
Visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2014, from 5—7 PM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Hibbing, from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
