Glenn M. Saarinen, 60, longtime resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Hibbing.  He was born on December 22, 1952 to John and Bernice (Hopper) Saarinen in Hibbing.  Glenn was a 1971 graduate of Hibbing High School and later received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.  Glenn married Rene Sinnott on December 7, 1976 in Hibbing.  He was employed with Hibbing Taconite as their Union Training Coordinator.  Glenn also worked with the non-profit United Way video-taping various events.
He was a former member of the Hibbing High School Curling team and was a State Champion in 1971.  He is survived by his wife Rene Saarinen, Hibbing, his two sons, Paul (Annamarie) Saarinen, Shoreview, MN., and Tim Saarinen, Los Angeles, CA., sister, Beverly Bizal, Hibbing, three grandchildren, Eve, Elle, and Jack Saarinen, Shoreview, MN., a special nephew, Brian Quiser, Cold Spring, TX., and niece, Dana (Jeff) Sanders, Zim, MN., and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Bissonette, and his parents, John and Bernice (Hopper) Saarinen.
Funeral services for Glenn will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev Dan Erickson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the 12:00 noon funeral service at the funeral home on Monday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
