Golden “Goldie” Martha Nordmark

Goldie at 101 years passed peacefully on April 21, 2017. She was born to Enger and Charles Johnson of Nashwauk, MN; grew up in the Little Sweden area and graduated in 1933. Golden married Clarence Nordmark in Nashwauk in 1946, later moving to Platte, SD in 1948, and returning to MN in 1957 making their home in Pengilly. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church of Pengilly.
Goldie will be missed by her many friends along with her two sons John (Sheryl) Nordmark and Edward (Gail) Nordmark of Pengilly. 15 grandchildren and their families, Vickie (Matt) Kaiser, Randall (Kim) Nordmark, Janice Nordmark, David (Michelle) Nordmark, Sherri (Duane) Gutierrez, Diana (Armando) Carbon, Patti (Dennis) Drieman, Robert (Stephanie) Thompson, Diane (Steve) Citterman, Earl Thompson, Debra Strickler, Donna (Corey) Harwood, Jim (Jill) & Jerrick Nordmark, Sue Nordmark, and Paul Nordmark along with 25 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Marion, 2 step-sons James and Raymond McDonald, 1 step-daughter Marcy Mannion, 5 brothers: Ed, Emil, Earl, William and Albert, along with 3 sisters: Anna, Hilma, and Mable.
The family of Goldie Nordmark would like to express their whole hearted and sincere appreciation for the doctors, nurses and all who cared for Goldie at the medical unit (Med Surg Peds Unit) at the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN and Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice Itasca Team. They were so dedicated to their profession that we were so comforted as they cared for Goldie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing with Pastor Cary Flinck officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.
