Gregg Watters French age 68 of Hibbing passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 at his home with family by his side after a long illness. Gregg was born June 9, 1955 to Dr. Bayard and Barbara (Wetherall) French in Hibbing. Gregg loved talking to people and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed reading, fishing, curling, driving and boating, his favorite place to spend time was at the “careless cottage” on Lake Vermillion. Gregg attended Hibbing Vocational School for business management. In 1974 he met his future wife Donna Sorci, they were married May 28, 1977. He later received training in management for Pamida and was employed as a manager of multiple lumber yards which was his true passion. Eventually he worked for Frito-Lay in sales. Gregg was able to give back to the community through Frito-Lay by donating computers to the Hibbing High School. Additionally, he donated to the hospice program for education. Gregg and his wife Donna were instrumental in starting Dylan Days, spending countless hours setting up concerts and volunteering. He was a Digital Soldier throughout his life. Gregg loved his children and grandchildren dearly. Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Mike Raukar and Joe Stilinovich, nephews, Vince Waldoch, Chad Rauker and Cory Mellum. He will be deeply missed and survived by and his wife of 46 years, Donna, son, Cary (Priscilla) French, daughter, Chantelle French and son, Taylor French, grandchildren, Sydney, Ryleigh, Jaxon, Marco, Landon, Gracie, Zoey, Dayana, Deston, Addi and Giovanni, brothers, Nelson (Marilyn) French, Jeff (Mary Lincoln) French, Russell (Amy) French. Greggs family would like to personally thank Dr. Copeman and the Fairview Northstar Hospice team, special thanks to Ann, Sarah, Zach, Hannah, Kaylah, and Miranda for all they did for Gregg. A celebration of life will be held from 3-6 pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Mikes Pub in Hibbing.
