Henry "Hank" L. Vold

Henry "Hank" L. Vold, 84, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN, on January 2, 2025. He was born in Grand Forks, ND, on September 24, 1940, to Oliver and Madeline (Avron) Vold. Hank started working at a young age driving truck on a sugar beet farm and would go fishing on the Red River in his free time. Enjoying travel, Hank left home and worked his way across the country working different jobs and living in different states. An iron worker by trade, he ended up settling in Hibbing, MN, where he met and married his wife, Helen Grossman, of over 58 years. They planted their roots in Hibbing and together raised a family of four girls. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 512. Hank loved to hunt, trap and especially fish. He enjoyed checking in and visiting with others. Hank was always available to help those in need with whatever it might be. He had a great outlook on life and sense of humor. He joked around and kept a positive attitude right until the end of his life. He will be greatly missed.

Hank is survived by his daughters Wanda (Dennis) Minerich, Kellie Minerich, Kerrie (Roy) Howell and Pamela (Aaron) Nivala, brothers Duane (Diane) Vold and Marty (Phyllis) Vold, grandchildren Cindy and Kristopher Rewertz, Scott and Anthony Curtis, Jordan Minerich, Dean (Kristin Rice) and April Howell, Kimberly (Garritt) Annexstad, Alex and Tyler (Rachel) Yost and Connor Nivala, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, granddaughter Riley Nivala and great grandson Byron Carlson.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Kevin Olson will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service at church starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
