Henry W. Erkelenz
Henry William Erkelenz, 60, of Duluth, previous resident of Hibbing for over 26 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, May 15, 2017 in Duluth. Henry was born July 16, 1956 to Eugene and Martha (Notbohm) Erkelenz in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Henry was many things, an avid hunter, boats man, sailor, businessman, outdoorsman and Packer’s enthusiast. Most everything he did, he was skilled at. There isn’t anyone who can grill a better steak then him! Henry lived and loved well; He was a strong and proud man. Everyone who knew him can tell a story about how he touched their lives, in one way or another. Henry holds a very dear spot in his family’s heart and he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Peace of Mind, where he was cared for and loved for 10 years.
Henry is survived by his wife Lynn (Rathbun) Erkelenz of Hibbing, his children: Audra Erkelenz of Duluth, Laura Erkelenz of Duluth, and Nick (Michelle Embrey) Radcliff of Des Moines, IA; sisters Betty Jaco of Texas, Susan (Harvey) Angles of Virginia; Nieces and nephews: Carrie and Cassie Manuel of Wisconsin, Christopher and Kalla Jaco of Texas, Hallie and Maggie Rathbun, and Eric and Nicole Laliberte; sister-in-law Lori Laliberte of Hibbing, brother-in-law Mark (Gina) Rathbun of Elk River, and two grandchildren Kennedy and Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jane Erkelenz, and brother-in-law John Jaco.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday May 24, 2017 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Deacon Richard Johnston will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
