Henry D. "Hank" Wiiliainen
Henry D. "Hank" Wiiliainen, 87, lifelong Hibbing resident, died Friday,
March 15, 2013, at Guardian Angels in Hibbing. He was born in Hibbing to
Henry and Hilja Wiiliainen, on September 17, 1925 and was raised in Carson
Lake Location. Hank started Hank’s Woodworks in 1953 and retired in 2008 at
age 82. He was a member of the Mesaba Lodge #255, A.F. & A.M., Hibbing Lodge
of Perfection, all Scottish Rite Bodies and the Aad Temple Shrine. He was
with the Shriners Mesabi Rangers and also housed their parade cars. He was a
Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS
Saratoga. Hank was also a member of the Duluth Building Trades Union #606
and St. James Episcopal Church in Hibbing.
Hank will be missed by his wife Esther; 8 children, including
Connie Mayrand, New Brighton; MN, Don (Jodi) Wiiliainen, Pengilly; Kim
(Gary Cerkvenik) Stokes, Britt, MN; Ron (Rhonda) Wiiliainen, Hibbing;
Jeffrey (Marsha Hamre) Stokes, Hibbing; Susan (Paul Sherman) Stokes, St.
Paul; and Jayson (Kerry) Stokes, Boston, MA; identical twin brother, Edward
Wiiliainen, Duluth; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved and adored his grand and great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at
St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Marta Maddy officiating. A time for
visiting will be held immediately following the service during a reception
at the Elks Club in the Androy. Private burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to North Star Hospice, 1101 E.
37th St., Suite 27, Hibbing, MN 55746. Arrangements are with the Dougherty
Funeral Home.
