Hilda Ruzich

Hilda Ruzich, 95, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing.  She was born on January 26, 1920, to Jim and Maria (Guzzi) Rose in Carson Lake Township.  A homemaker and former member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Kelly Lake, Hilda raised her family in Hibbing.  She was a part of various card clubs and was a member of the Women of the Moose.  She loved bingo as one of her pastimes.

Grandma Ru, as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is best known for her spaghetti dinners.  For 50 years, she prepared spaghetti dinner once a week for her whole family plus anyone else who stopped by.  Grandma Ru was a true Italian lady, always making sure everyone was fed and taken care of.  Although these last few years she was unable to prepare those spaghetti dinners, the tradition she started all those years ago still continues in her honor.

She is survived by her six children: Joanne (Dale) Timmerman, Kelly Lake, Shaddy (Pat) Ruzich, Leetonia, MN, Davey (Barb) Ruzich, Kelly Lake, Gary (Chris) Ruzich, Hibbing, Dennis Ruzich, and Jeff (Gretchen) Ruzich, both of Kelly Lake; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Joseph Ruzich in 1987; four brothers: Tony, Armand, Danny and Sam Rose; and three sisters: Vicki Holman, Helen Versich, and Frances Ouke.

Funeral services for Hilda will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 10, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Mr. Raymond Sampson will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
