Jack A. Baratto
Jack A. Baratto, 94, longtime resident of Hibbing died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born on September 2, 1922 to Mathew and Rose (Carnevale) Baratto in Hibbing. Jack proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Throughout Jack’s career he was employed as a professor with Northern Michigan University, he also taught in San Fransico, and most recently with Moorhead State University. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, the Hibbing Elks Lodge, VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing, the Italian American Club, and the American Legion. He loved traveling, fishing, relaxing at the cabin, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Baratto, Hibbing, step-children, Michael (Judy) Bonacci, Domenic (Maureen) Bonacci, Kimball, MN, and Steve (Rosalie) Bonacci, Hibbing, seven grandchildren, Heather (Mitch) Austin, Nicholas Bonacci, Tabitha Bonacci, Angelica (Paul) Oldham, Stephanie (Chad) Twardowski, and Sarah (Joe) Gabardi, ten great-grandchildren, Dylan Austin, Evelyn Austin, Christopher Oldham, Gabriella Bonacci, Addisyn Bonacci, Katie Twardowski, Chloe Twardowski, Jack Gabardi, Joey Gabardi, and Jenna Gabardi, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Rose (Carnevale) Baratto, and his brother, Joe Baratto.
Funeral services for Jack will be 10:30am, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Nick Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
