Jack Mitchell Fetzik
Jack M. Fetzik, 80, Hibbing, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday March 11, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Hibbing on July 28, 1931, to John S. and Rosella M. Fetzik. Jack graduated from Hibbing High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Darlene Johnson on June 11, 1955, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Jack and Darlene lived in Pengilly for several years and eventually settled in Hibbing. He had worked at Ziegler for over 32 years, retiring in August of 1993. Jack loved to volunteer his time at the Hull Rust Mine View in Hibbing and he also enjoyed curling, golf, bocce, fishing, camping, and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy (Jerry) Koschak of Hibbing; 4 sons: Jim (Linda) Fetzik of Pengilly, Robert (Jan) Fetzik of Stockton, CA, Steve (Lorie) Fetzik of Cambridge, MN, and Michael (Mary Jo) Fetzik of Hibbing; a brother, Richard (Jane) Fetzik of Weslaco, TX; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer (John) Nosen, Ashley Koschak, Andrew Koschak, Dan Fetzik, Joe Fetzik, Nik Fetzik, David Fetzik, Jacob Fetzik, Lindsey Fetzik, Patrick Ells, and E.J. Ells; 2 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Aveya; and by his cat, Bert. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, on Nov. 23, 2008; by his parents, and by a sister, Rosella A. Fetzik.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012, from 5—7 PM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing with parish wake prayers at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral Mass. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, at a later date.
