Jack Lee Kaufman
Jack L. Kaufman, 72, Hibbing, died Monday August 20, 2012, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center, Hibbing. He was born September 17, 1939, in Kokomo, Indiana and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Earl Musgrave. Jack graduated from Kokomo High School and then served in the US Navy. While in the Navy, Jack met Ramona Heineman, and they were married on January 9, 1960 in Wisconsin. Upon his honorable discharge, Jack worked for the ABC Television affiliate in Indianapolis, eventually serving as chief cameraman. Later, he served as aide-de-camp to Governor Elect Otis Bowen during his campaign in Indiana. Eventually, Jack and Ramona settled in Hibbing, where he worked at Eveleth Taconite until an injury forced his retirement in 1980. He was an avid fisherman and builder of model airplanes, and he also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by 2 sons, Charlie Kaufman of Maui, HI and Richard Kaufman of Hibbing; 2 daughters, Lori Kaufman of Maui, HI, and Jaqi (Dan Krippner) Packa of Nashwauk; his step-mother, Florence Kaufman of Texas; 2 brothers, Gary (Sherri) Musgrave and Ron (Judy) Musgrave, both of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Millie Kaufman of Kentucky; 2 grandchildren, Kari (Brian) Boehmer and Brandon (Lucy) Packa; 2 great-grandchildren, Ella Boehmer and Michael Boehmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, on July 7, 2006; his parents; and a brother, Richard “Dick” Kaufman.
Visitation will be Friday August 24, 2012, from 12 Noon—1PM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Funeral service will be 1 PM Friday in the Funeral Home.
