Jacob J. Barnhill, 17, Hibbing died Friday, August 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.  He was born on June 10, 1997 to George Barnhill Jr. and Sheila (Rutchasky) Barnhill in Hibbing.  Jacob attended Hibbing schools and was employed with Hardees in Hibbing.  He was very active in various sporting activities.  Jacob participated in wrestling throughout school, he played baseball, football, basketball outside of school, he enjoyed the hockey rink, and raced at the enduro races at the Hibbing Raceway.  Drawing was a gift of his and he was very artistic.
He is survived by his father, George Barnhill Jr., Nashwauk, mother, Sheila Barnhill, Hibbing, his two sisters, Kayla (Todd Olson Jr.) Barnhill, Bovey, MN, and Kari Barnhill, Hibbing, paternal grandparents, George (Barbara) Barnhill Sr., Nashwauk, and Maternal grandparents, Zigmond (Cecilia) Rutchasky, Bigfork, MN  Jeff , Cole and Jordan Provinzino, all of Hibbing, aunts, Becky Barnhill, Nashwauk, and Barb (Jeremy) Nelson, Britt, MN, Penny Rutchasky Hibbing, and uncle Joseph Rutchasky, Hibbing, and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Mary and Zig Rutchasky Sr., and Madeline Hernlund.
Funeral services for Jacob will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the noon Mass at the church on Tuesday.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
