James D. Bachman
James D. Bachman, 65, longtime resident of Calumet died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Grand Rapids.  He was born on September 10, 1949 to Duane and Ardell (Hatch) Bachman in Little Falls, MN.  Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  After his time in the Army, Jim married Jane Pella in 1974 in Pierz, MN.  Later he was employed as a control room operator with Inland Steel, later known as ArcelorMittal Mining Co., retiring in 2007 after 30 years of service.  Jim loved writing country music, playing the guitar, and listening to music.  He also was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Bachman, Calumet, MN; three children: Rylan Bachman, Roseville, MN, Wyatt (Abby) Bachman, Maple Grove, MN, and Kylar (Victoria Olson) Bachman, River Falls, WI; and his three siblings: William Bachman, St. Cloud, MN, Doris (Arvid) Pajunen, Chisholm, MN, and Gail (Brian) Frider, Cambridge, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Ardell (Hatch) Bachman.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Pastor Marvin Aultman will officiate.  Visitation will be 1-3pm prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday.  A private family interment will take place at St. Rita’s Parish Cemetery in Hillman, MN, at a later date.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
