James George “Jim” Gleason
James G. “Jim” Gleason, 67, Hibbing, died Wednesday July 4, 2012, at Fairview University Medical Center—Mesabi, Hibbing. He was born in Hibbing on August 22, 1944, to James W. and Hanny Gleason and had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as an equipment operator for St. Louis County and was a member of the NRA, VFW Post 8510, and the Hibbing Rifle and Pistol Club. Jim was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of Hibbing; 3 children: Heather (Danny) Drlaca Egstad of East Grand Forks, MN, Mike (Kelly) Taggart of Thief River Falls, MN, and Karen (Rich) Las of Orr, MN; 5 grandchildren: Austin, Cole, Abby, Brody, and Riley; and a sixth grandchild due in January . He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday July 7, 2012, from 10-11 AM in Wesley United Methodist Church, Hibbing.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday July 7, 2012, in Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 8510 Color Guard.
