James Patterson

James J. Patterson, 49, Coates, MN, formerly of Hibbing and Pengilly, MN, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 in his home.  He was born in St. Paul, MN to Deryl and Katherine Patterson.  He graduated from the Eveleth High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University.  His entire working career was spent as a CPA for various firms in the area.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  He loved to golf and was a member of the Mesaba Country Club.  He also enjoyed curling and was a member of the Wings North Hunting Club.  His favorite times were spent with family, especially when cooking was involved. He is survived by his children: Keaten James and McKinley Jo, his parents Kathy and Deryl, his sister Cheryll Patterson, a brother Jason (Randi) Patterson, his ex-wife Kaylee Fimrite Patterson, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews , his dog Nelly and  special friends John Mammenga and Gina DelGrande. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Marvin and Cora Schramm and Elmer and Elsie Patterson. Funeral services will be held in the Wesley United Methodist Church, Hibbing on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be in the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
