James Thomas Kayfes Sr.
James T. Kayfes Sr., 75, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
James was a devoted employee at Hibbing Taconite as Area Manager of Concentrator and Crushing. He later finished his career as Superintendant of Eveleth Taconite. Jim enjoyed fishing with his family and spending time outdoors tending to his beautiful lawn and flowers. He fiercely loved his family and inspired his grandchildren to excel in both, academics and athletics. Jim was a very kind-hearted and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Donna Kayfes; his son, James Kayfes Jr. and wife Eileen; his daughter, Lisa Edison and husband, John; his grandchildren, Ryan and Molly Kayfes, and Adam and Ellen Edison; his brothers, Joe and Mathew Kayfes; and his beloved dog, Mitzi. He was preceded in death by his father, Matt Kayfes; and mother, Evelyn Kayfes.
Per Jim’s request there will be a private family service held at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, MN on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. The Rev. Fr. Beau Braun will officiate.
