James C. Manthei, 69, Buck Lake, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in Buck Lake. He was born Aug. 22, 1946, in Minneapolis to Darrell and Joyce Manthei. Jim was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He received a Bronze Star Medal for valor and was awarded a Purple Heart. He had worked as a salesman in the dental industry. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Leah, of Buck Lake; two sons, Andrew (Brenda) Manthei of Nashwauk and James Manthei of Buck Lake; two grandchildren, Alex and Jeff Manthei; and by many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
