James John Patregnani
James J. Patregnani, 85, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Saturday, April, 25, 2015 at Essentia St. Mary’s in Duluth, MN. He was born on August 13, 1929 to Attillio and Henrietta (Cermak) Patregnani in Hibbing. James proudly served his country from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Virginia Alto on June 29, 1957 in Hibbing. He was employed as a mechanic for the Hibbing Fire Department. James was active in the Knights of Columbus and various church functions with the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. In his youth he played hockey and later became a coach for the Hibbing youth program which was a very important part of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and gardening as his pastimes.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Patregnani, Hibbing, children, Michael (Geri) Patregnani, Hibbing, Teresa (Rod Anderson) Patregnani, Lakeville, MN, Steven (Jean Winters) Patregnani, Plymouth, MN, Kathryn Patregnani, Zimmerman, MN, and Anita (Chuck Johnson) Patregnani, Columbia Heights, MN, sister, Elaine (James) Tupac, Sun City West, AZ, three grandchildren, Krystal Kurpierz, Rosemount, MN, Michelle Patregnani, and Anthony Patregnani, both of Hibbing, two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Sofia Colburn, and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Attillio and Henrietta (Cermak) Patregnani.
Funeral services for James will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the 12:00 noon funeral Mass at the church on Wednesday. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Columbarium at the cemetery in Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
