James F. Quitberg

James F. Quitberg, 57, Hibbing formerly of Kelly Lake died peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at home.  He was born on March 21, 1956 to Lloyd and Barbara (Kemp) Quitberg in Hibbing.  Jim entered the sacrament of marriage with Patty Jones on January 3, 1975, in Chisholm, MN.  Growing up in Kelly Lake, Jim and his family moved to Hibbing in 1990.  He was employed with Hibbing Taconite.  Jim was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his 1968 Chevy pickup, and most of all, spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his boys Sonnie and Deuce.  According to Jim’s wishes, one of his requests was to; “Please dress casual at my funeral!”
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Quitberg, Hibbing, two sons, Shawn (Joy) Quitberg, Valley City, ND., and Chad (Maria Gabardi) Quitberg, Hibbing, his mother, Barbara Quitberg, Hibbing, his five siblings, Linda (Roger) Benard, Grand Rapids, MN., David (Sue) Quitberg, Nashwauk, MN., Steven Quitberg, Kelly Lake, MN., Kenneth Quitberg, Kelly Lake, and Christine Evenson, Edina, MN., four beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Owen Quitberg, and Savannah and Callen Quitberg, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Quitberg in 2009, and sister, Nancy Quitberg.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at  Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 11:00am until the 1:00pm Mass at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Honorary Pallbearers are; David Quitberg, Steven Quitberg, Kenneth Quitberg, and Mark Jones. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
