James Sellars

James P. Sellars

James P. Sellars, 77, lifelong Hibbing resident, died at home on Wednesday,

April 6, 2016, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Duluth to Herbert and Gertrude Sellars on August 9, 1938. He attended Hibbing High School, graduating in 1957.  Jim was a member of the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He married Mary Palmer on November 4, 1961. He was a General Contractor, a member of the Brick Layers Local 1 for 55 years, a life member of VFW 8510, the American Legion in Deer River, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; son, Jim (Robin) Sellars, Side Lake; daughters, Ann (Ken) Stocco, Duluth, Carolyn (Dave) Nollette, Prior Lake, and Lisa (Rick) Aldrich, Side Lake; 11 grandchildren: Crystal, Michael, and Jenna Sellars, Adriana (Andrew) Martire, and SPC Alexandra Stocco, US Army, Katie and Nicholas Nollette, Hannah, Megan, Erik, and Andrew Aldrich; and 4 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Herbert (Mara) Sellars, and John (Sharon) Sellars; a sister, Kathy (Oren) Bottoms; along with many nieces, nephews; and his dog Benny. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ted; infant daughter, Mary Ann; and granddaughter, Danielle Sellars.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Nick Nelson celebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be in church for 1 hour before Mass. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerry Enroth, Carl Enroth, George Morell, Bob Musech, and Harold Breed. Private burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
