Jayne Owens

November 14, 1950 — December 18, 2014

Jayne L. (Aimonetti) Owens
Jayne L. Owens, 64, Coleraine died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, December 18, 2014.  Jayne was born in Grand Rapids, MN, on November 14, 1950 to James and Marilyn (Simonson) Aimonetti.  She grew up in Nashwauk, graduating from Nashwauk-Keewatin High School in 1968.  She graduated from Hibbing Technical College in 1970 as a computer programmer.  She achieved her A.A. degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1987-1988.  Jayne worked for many years with the Anchorage School District.
She married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Owens in 1970 and was happily married for 44 years.  Jayne and Dick started their lives in Duluth, MN, moving to Littleton, CO, and later Anchorage, AK, where they lived for twenty eight years before returning to Coleraine, MN where they built their retirement home.  Jayne and Dick enjoyed traveling to California and Texas to visit their sons and families.  For their 40th anniversary, the whole family traveled to Italy to visit her Italian cousins – Jayne’s lifelong dream.  The trip deeply bonded the families.
Jayne’s love for her family was paramount.  She spoke with reverence of grandparents, parents, cousins, aunties, siblings, spouses and children.  Jayne’s fulfillment as a mother was complete.  Her capable, competent and accomplished sons, Tadd and Kipp are a tribute to her fierce love and devotion.  Jayne celebrated each magical moment with her grandchildren, Nolan and Teagan.  Through stories, songs, and praise, she poured out her unconditional love.
She set very high standards for the way she conducted herself and encouraged others to do the same. If she could have, she would have edited her own obituary.  She loved taking care of her home, reading, biking, canoeing, walking, eating her DQ ice cream, and playing “Words with Friends”.   One of the agreements from Jayne’s favorite book was; “To be impeccable with your word,” she tried to live up to this every day.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Owens, Coleraine, MN; her sons, Tadd (Amy) Owens and their children, Nolan and Teagan of Keller, TX and Kipp (Shannon) Owens, Folsom, CA; her mother, Marilyn Aimonetti, Nashwauk, MN; sisters, Sheri (Gary) Kalish, Nashwauk, MN and Nancy (Wayne) Roberts, Pengilly, MN; brother, Peter (Jean) Aimonetti, Cottage Grove, MN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father on December 12, 2014.
Funeral services for Jayne will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 22, 2014 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN.  The Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday.  Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
