Jean Gertrude Jensen

Jean G. Jensen, 88, lifelong resident of Nashwauk died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN.  She was born August 12, 1930 to Andrew and Roseana Marie (Tanguay) Tawyea in Detroit, MI.  She was a member of Nashwauk Lutheran Church and Order of the Eastern Star.  A homemaker by trade, Jean was well known for her excellent crocheting skill which she loved teaching and passing  on to others, she enjoyed playing volleyball, swimming, and was also an amazing baseball player who was proud to be a “Lefty”.  Jean also had a career with Nashwauk-Keewatin High School where she was a hallway and bus monitor for 13 years.

She is survived by her children, Raymond (Marci) Jensen, Chisholm, MN, Craig (Lenora) Jensen, Hibbing, Brian (Gail) Jensen, Nashwauk, and Kurt Jensen, Hibbing, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; Jill Jensen, Greg (Kathryn) Jensen, Kristen (James) Bayliss, their children, Ethan, Ava, Adelyn and Jackson Bayliss, Dawn (Chad) Ricketson, their children, Riley, Alivia, and Michael Ricketson, April Jean Elsner, her children, Kaitlyn and Kelin Elsner, Jeff (Becky) Jensen, their children, Emma and Taylor Jensen, Jennifer Jensen, Launna (Joe) Hoshal, their child, Ayden Hoshal, Kevin (Liana Mackmiller) Jensen, their children, Hunter and Lucas Jensen, Ahren (Courtney Wickham) Jensen, and their child, Delilah Jean Jensen, Joshua Jensen, and Alexander Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Jensen, husband, Raymond O. Jensen in 2001, parents, Andrew and Roseana and 10 siblings, Eva Schwartz, Raymond Tawyea, Arthur Tawyea, Lawrence Tawyea, Noreen Guye, Ardell Kannus, Beatrice Perry, Robert Tawyea, Dale Tawyea, and Donald Tawyea.

Funeral services for Jean will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Richard Johnston will officiate.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm with a prayer service accorded by Order of the Eastern Star at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will then continue from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service at the funeral home on Friday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
