Jennie F. Crea (Turk)
Jennie F. Crea (Turk), 99, Hibbing, passed away Sept. 15, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehab Center where she resided for the past 6 years.
She was born in Hibbing on April 26, 1914 to Mary and John Turk and lived most of her life in Kitzville Location. It was in Kitzville that she met her husband, Dominic. In 1932 she graduated from Hibbing High School. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Her family was most important to her and she was well known for her wonderful apple strudel and potica. Her hobbies included going on walks with her friends, picking wild berries, gardening, cooking and baking. In later years she was on a senior bowling league.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 68 years, Dominic, and her oldest son Anthony “Butch” Crea, a sister Mary (Rudy) Rakun, brothers; Joe(Ann) and Frank (Ann) Zadonick and John (Marie) Turk.
She is survived by her sons; Donald of Indian Rocks Beach, Fl, Michael (Donna) of Andover, MN; daughter Mary(Jim) Bowers of Chatham, MA; granddaughters Patty (Art) Richter and Angela Crea; grandsons Dominic (Lisa) and Jimmy Crea; great grandchildren Sam and Bekka Crea, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that were all very special to her.
The family would like to thank the staff of Guardian Angels for the loving and respectful care she received.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
