Jerome T. “Jerry” Klein, Sr.
Jerome T. “Jerry” Klein, Sr., 87, Hibbing, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center in Hibbing. He was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Pierz, MN to William and Rosemary (Kastonek) Klein. Jerry graduated from Little Falls High School and St. Cloud Business College. He moved to Duluth in 1950, where he worked at Jim’s Hamburger Shop until he was employed by Bridgeman’s as assistant manager. Jerry was united in marriage to Mildred DeBot of Duluth on Sept. 26, 1953. In 1958, he was transferred to Hibbing to be the manager of the Bridgeman’s Store there. After 17 years, he took a job with Eveleth Taconite Company as a concentrator control operator, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; four sons: Bill (Leah) Klein of Duluth, MN, Jerome “Jay” (Dawn) Klein, Jr. of Monument, CO, Frank (Liz) Klein of Hibbing, and Douglas (Leslie) Klein of Hesperia, CA; a daughter, Laura Ann (Kelley) Mielke, of Lake City, MN; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Rose Timmerman and his parents, Bill and Rose Klein.
Visitation will be 11:30 AM—12:45 PM on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 PM Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hibbing.
