Jerry Donald Olson, age 56, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center after a several month battle with colon cancer.
Jerry was born to Roger and Alma (Hietala) Olson on December 13, 1959, in Hibbing Minnesota. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1978 and worked for the Occupational Development Center, in both Hibbing and Buhl, retiring due to his illness with 39 years of service.
Jerry is survived by his sister Karen (Larry) Bohjanen of Hibbing; half-brother, Marc Olson, Beverly Hills, Florida; 2 nieces, Anna (Geoff) Erickson, Brookfield, WI; Jenny (Joshua) Hepokoski, Champlin, MN; nephew Erik (Senja) Bohjanen, Corcoran, MN; great–nephew and niece Mikko and Sybil Bohjanen; and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Friday, February 13 at the Dougherty Funeral Home at 2615 First Avenue in Hibbing from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral.
Funeral: Saturday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church at 8038 Cedar Valley Road, Floodwood, MN.
Burial: Cedar Valley Cemetery
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Terrace, Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center and Fairview Range Hospice for all the care and support given to Jerry.
