Joan Mary Bergan

Joan Mary (Karonovich) Bergan, 90, of Maplewood, MN and formerly of Hibbing, passed away peacefully on Jan 15, 2024 at St. Therese hospice home in Shoreview, MN. Joan was born in Calumet, MN, on Oct 30, 1933. Joan worked for a time as an X-ray technician in Duluth, and eventually married the love of her life, Matt Bergan Jr., and moved to Hibbing, where she and Matt raised their only child, Matt III. After Matt Jr. passed in 2013, Joan moved to Maplewood and enjoyed the final chapter of her life with her new friends at the Shores of Lake Phalen senior facility. Joan was preceded in death by husband of 51 years, Matt Bergan Jr, her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her son, Matt (Lori Jo) Bergan of Forest Lake, MN; her granddaughter, Alex (Nick) Johnson of Maplewood, MN; and her grandson, Zach Bergan of Maplewood, MN. Per Joan’s request, a private family memorial service will be held.
