John August Anderson
John August Anderson, 76, Hibbing, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Chisholm.  He was born in Winton, MN, on April 7, 1937, to Oscar and Martha Anderson.  John grew up in Ely, MN, and graduated from Ely High School.  After graduation, he served in the US Army and later graduated from Hibbing Junior College.  John and Patricia “Pat” Drewicke were united in marriage on June 19, 1965, in Ely, and they made their home in Hibbing, where John worked as a St. Louis County Deputy Sheriff.  He retired in 1996.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing, a life member of the American Legion in Orr, and a member of the AMVETS in Hibbing.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Anderson of Hibbing; three daughters:  Kelly Anderson of St. Michael, MN, Marti (Lee) Ryan of Buffalo, MN, and Becky Anderson of Hibbing; two grandchildren, Parker Ryan and Cody Ryan, both of Buffalo; by numerous nieces and nephews; and by his constant companion, his beagle, Chase.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 2, 2013, for one hour prior to the 2 PM funeral service at Grace Lutheran Church, Hibbing.  Interment will be in the Ely Cemetery at a later date.  Funeral arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com.
