John Chacich Sr.

John G. “Chach” Chacich Sr.
John G. Chacich, 95, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  John was born on October 21, 1918 to Robert and Theresa (Cacic`) Chacich in Penobscot, Location.  He attended Hibbing Schools and in young adulthood worked in the CCC Camps.  In October of 1944, John started working for US Steel, and after working 37 years of service, he retired in 1981.  He enjoyed his retirement with many hobbies that kept him active.  He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, raising chickens and sheep, and gardening.  He paid special attention to his apple trees, from which he would bake those delicious apple pies and squares for which he was recognized.  John was always there to help someone in need.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Chacich, Hibbing, sons, John (Joyce) Chacich, Hibbing, George (Betty) Chacich, Cloquet, MN., Richard (Peggy) Chacich, Spring Lake Park, MN., and Victor (Sharon) Chacich, Apple Valley, MN., daughters, Margaret (Ted) Bussey, New Port Richey, FL., Patricia (Doug) Brown, Fort Washington, MD., and Sandra Chacich, Hibbing, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, daughters, Joann and Mary, grandchildren, Shari, James, Wendy, and Theresa, his parents, Robert and Theresa, brothers, Michael and Tony, and sisters, Mary, Ann and Barbara.
Per the family’s request, there will be a private family funeral service at  Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.        “We will miss you Dad!!!!”
