John Raymond Koewler
John R. Koewler, 72, beloved husband, father and disabled honorable army veteran of Nashwauk, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. John was born in Onamia, MN., and adopted by James and LouElla Koewler of Pine City, MN. He graduated from high school in Hastings, MN. He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Nancy on June 24, 1972. John was employed with the U.S. Postal service, retiring in 2001 after 22 years of service. He enjoyed food, cars, motorcycles and painting.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy (Cafourek) Koewler, Nashwauk, MN., his devoted daughter, Michele Koewler, Nashwauk, MN., brothers, Dennis (Jean) Koewler, Grand Rapids, MN., and Mike (Lynn) Koewler, Newport, MN., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and LouElla (Raasch) Koewler.
Funeral services for John will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Brian Birk will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday. A private family internment will take place at the Nashwauk Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
