John Edward Matetich
John Edward Matetich, 96, Grand Rapids, formerly of Hibbing, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in Grand Itasca Hospital,  Grand Rapids.  He was born in West Winfield, Penn. on November 24, 1917, to John and Frances Matetich and grew up in Chisholm.  He was a partner in the Matetich Insurance Agency in Hibbing for 60 years and was one of the longest-licensed insurance agents in Minnesota.
He is survived by  his 5 children:  Noreen (Jon) Maturi of  Grand Rapids, Linda (Patrick) Bujold, Grand Rapids, John (Chris) Matetich of  Hibbing,  Marie (Kevin Griswold) Matetich of Anchorage, AK, and James (Teresa) Matetich of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol (Roy) Palmquist, of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am.  Saturday, December 7, 2013 in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am. , Saturday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Memorials are preferred to the Chisholm Library.
