John D. “Jack” Scanlon
John D. “Jack” Scanlon, 90, longtime Hibbing resident died Thursday December 20, 2018 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. He was born to Dewey and Margaret (McNelis) Scanlon on January 27, 1928 in Duluth. He was an Army veteran serving in the occupation force in Japan. Jack had been employed with Sabin Brothers as a bookkeeper. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Jack in survived by his niece Paula (Jim) Tomlinson of Duluth and great-nephew Robert Vallie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Leo Cashen, sister, Patricia Vallie, brother-in-law Rodney Vallie, nephew, Chris Vallie, and aunt Norene McNelis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am., Thursday December 27, 2018 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in Church beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
