John “Jack” Thomas Stimac
John T. “Jack” Stimac, 89, Hibbing, died Monday May 13, 2013, at Guardian Angels in Hibbing. He was born in Cherry, MN on January 29, 1924, to George and Anna Stimac. Jack graduated from Cherry High School and then served in the US Army during World War II. He was part of the liberation force in the Philippines, where he was awarded the Silver Star Medal and the Bronze Star. Jack and Bernice Kaiser were united in marriage in 1943 at Camp Roberts, CA and they made their home in Hibbing. Jack was the owner/operator of the Shop Rite market in Hibbing for over twenty years and later worked at Sullivan Supply. He and Bernice enjoyed their cabin on Swan Lake for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, of Hibbing; a brother, Joseph M. Stimac of Hibbing; a sister, Dorothy Klobuchar of Hibbing; a brother-in-law, Clifford “Buzz” DeBernardi in California; a sister, Dorothy Klobuchar of Hibbing; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers Zvanimir “Chuck” Stimac, George Stimac, Jr., Peter Stimac, and Matt Stimac; a sister-in-law, Lorraine De Bernardi; and a brother-in-law, Jack Kaiser.
Visitation will be Thursday May 16, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing, from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral Mass. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
