Jonelle J. (Koscak) Krier
Jonelle J. Krier of Hibbing passed away of cancer on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  She was born in Hibbing to Joseph and Alice Koscak on June 12, 1947.  She and her husband, John were lifelong residents of Hibbing, and members of the Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Jonelle graduated from Hibbing High School, Hibbing Community College with an Associate degree in Nursing and went on to Bemidji State University earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.  Her thesis; Care of Medically Fragile Children was published in Pediatric Nursing.  She was employed by the Hibbing hospital system as an OB nurse and worked for a short time for Hibbing’s Early Childhood program, and at the Chisholm School District.  Jonelle later joined the HCC nursing faculty where she passed on her passion for maternal newborn health, retiring in 2007.
Jonelle enjoyed developing new things that made life easier.  She was the founder of Assessables, Inc.  The Minnesota based company provides sales nationally of her patented newborn product,  Assessables Umbilical Suit.  This allowed her to continue her nursing care by providing for the health, safety, and comfort of all newborns.
Jonelle served on the Range Center Board of Directors including two terms as president and on the HCC Nursing Advisory Committee.  She was a member of the Chisholm-Hibbing Garden Club and hosted several tours of her gardens.  As a master gardener, she also served a term on the Eighth District MN Horticultural Society.
She enjoyed spending time with her family at the cabin and in her garden.  Flowers were plentiful but vegetables were her main interest along with apples and grapes which she made jams and jellies for her family.
Of all her accomplishments she is most proud of her family.  She is survived by her children and their spouses; Jeanine (Curt Carter) Krier, Minneapolis, MN, Christopher (Brandy) Krier, Miami, FL, and Rebecca (Kenneth George) McGrath, Little Canada, MN, along with grandchildren, Kenneth “George” and Clara Rose McGrath.  She is also survived by her siblings, Robert (Judi) Koscak, Rapid City, SD, and Nancy (Dean) Paolo, Hibbing, MN, plus many nieces and nephews including; Eric, Mathew and Chad Koscak, and Allison and Joseph Paolo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John G. Krier on September 28, 2014, and a sister-in-law, Dianne Koscak.
Funeral services for Jonelle will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until 11:45am Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
